Stroud sensei hosted the first iaido seminar in Idaho for us in November. He moved back to Idaho from Portland and we are very lucky to have him. I learned so much during this seminar, primarily about swinging both an iaito, bokuto and shinai during the seminar.
Jon Byrd and his wife Michelle hosted a seminar in Pocatello the weekend of December 10, 2004. It was well attended as you can see. The special guest sensei was Koike sensei, 7th dan kendo, who was extremely informative. He was ably assisted by Stroud sensei, 6th dan kendo. The second day of the seminar was devoted to shiai practice. Perhaps we will have one one day in Idaho.
Interesting special training the early the morning of January 1, 2005! Drove through snow to get there, worked hard, but had a great training session and a nice party at Stroud sensei's house afterwards.
Mizobe Sensei came to visit the Roosevelts in early January 2005 (he really wanted to go duck hunting but that's another story) and visited the dojo while he was here. We are always glad to have him visit and look forward to seeing him later this year. (We'll get you into the mallards yet sensei!)
I'm hanging out with Jon Bryd, to my right, mi compadre, Lupe Fuentes, to my right, and new friends from Obukan at the Kamei Sensei visit. Lot's of fun.
Remarkable sensei who came to Obukan for a seminar in late March 2005. He brought a whole bunch of other high ranked senseis with him. I learned a lot from the seminar.
